Children learn, what they live

If a child lives with criticism
He learns to condemn

If a child lives with hostility
He learns to fight

If a child lives with ridicule
He learns to be shy

If a child lives with shame
He learns to feel guilty

If a child lives with tolerance
He learns to be patient

If a child lives with encouragement
He learns confidence

If a child lives with praise
He learns to appreciate

If a child lives with fairness
He learns justice

If a child lives with security
He learns to have faith

If a child lives with approval
He learns to like himself

If a child lives with honesty
He learns truth

If a child lives with acceptance and friendship
He learns to find love in the world

  1. One we use to read these lines on back of our school copies. The copies of 'The City School' once had these lines on the back of them.
They also once had the lines of Faiz Ahmed Faiz about children.

  2. Shahrukh bhai... Fortunately I read these lines for the first time today... and I felt the importance for these lines because of my daughter.... and I realize that how environment and upbringing can be crucial, when raising a child...

These are really meaningful lines. But when we use to read it on the backs of our copies, we never knew its meanings.

You can also check Faiz Ahmed Faiz's words and if you don't mind in posting them in your weblog too.
